I am a football coach and business owner, but more than that, I want to help people and teams pursue the purpose they were created for.
What I hope to instill in the people I speak to:
-
Purpose that outlasts performance
-
Why the process matters more than the product
-
Accountability systems people actually believe in
-
The real difference between talented teams and championship teams
-
How culture consistently outweighs talent
-
Practicing servant leadership that lifts the whole group
-
How these principles elevate individuals and teams—from the field to the office
From a Small Farm in Ohio to the Biggest Stages in Football
I grew up on a small Ohio farm as one of twelve kids. We didn’t have much, and early on I believed money would fix everything. Football became my plan to get it.
I wasn’t the biggest or most recruited, but I was driven. That work took me to Penn State, then the NFL as a first-round pick. From the outside, life looked perfect. Inside, I was anxious, unhappy, and my marriage was strained. I had everything I thought I wanted, but none of it brought peace.
What changed was discovering purpose. A teammate invited me to a Bible study, and it shifted how I saw success. Football stopped being about proving myself and became a way to serve, lead, and honor God. That mindset transformed my career, my marriage, and my life.
My journey from an undersized farm kid to Super Bowl champion taught me that success without purpose is hollow. Purpose, paired with the right process and great coaching, is where the real win is.
I learned that the process is the product—that discipline, character, and serving others create a deeper kind of success than any scoreboard can show. Today, as a husband, father, coach, and mentor, that’s the foundation I try to live from.
